Achieving the 30x30 target of the Global Biodiversity Framework requires expanding the coverage of protected areas, but it also requires advancing ecological connectivity, cooperation, knowledge,and sustainable financing for marine protected areas. This event seeks to address the challenges that the Southeast Pacific region has in terms of ocean conservation, specifically in relation to the approach and regional level to strengthen these efforts, highlighting the importance of establishing the principle of connectivity can reinforce the work for the fulfillment of the objectives, highlighting the importance of articulating the connection between communities.

In this context, the Southeast Pacific Marine and Coastal Protected Areas Network (RAMPAS) will be presented as a model of regional cooperation, led by CPPS and including Chile, Colombia,Ecuador, Peru, Panama, and Costa Rica as participants, in order to strengthen the management and connectivity of marine and coastal protected areas, facilitate scientific and knowledge exchange, engage indigenous peoples and local communities, and mobilize alliances and financing.
Its Strategic Plan 2025 – 2035 sets out a long-term roadmap aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14) and the new international framework for marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
